Poviglio (2012)

This wonderful photography taken in Reggio Emilia, Italy is part of Paolo Simonazzi’s “So Near, so far” project.

The photography book “So Near, so far” (Danilo Montanari editore, 2018) includes a wide selection of images on display for Fotografia Europea 2016 at the Collezione Maramotti by Reggio Emilia photographer Paolo Simonazzi. The images refer to his numerous projects created over the years in Emilia Romagna with exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

He has an affectionate, yet ironic view with photographs that go from more rarefied  and suspended visions to images that tell of daily interactions set in the provincial locations that are dear to the artist where reality is imperceptibly overlapped by the surreal.

A journey that crosses the Via Emilia from the river to the sea touching upon places that are real, remembered or imagined.
