Bell’Italia di Maranello (2004)
This beautiful photograph taken in Modena is part of the “Bell’Italia” project by artist Paolo Simonazzi.
“Bell’Italia” project presents an overview of the photographic campaign of the author, started in the year 2000, and the outcome of his experiences and passions. The three colors of the Italian flag become the excuse to make a journey across the country, a way to see and narrate today's Italy through images, with love and without emphasis. What transpires through Simonazzi's eyes is a country which has still an identity, a balance and an important dose of self-irony. This is the lesson of the Italian photographic tradition starting from earlier experiences made in the Fifties and reaching adulthood with Ghirri and his companions in “Viaggio in Italia”, where memory and current affairs merge in a precise strategy of the gaze, quite evident in its conceptual developments and quite simple in its modes of appearance.
